The brainchild of Mr. Hussein Khorakiwala in the early 1956. Since then, their family has combined their years of experience with the vision of a community of collaborative shop owners, suppliers and other partners working together to create a brand name in the market to grow their business to what it is today. Their journey began with one humble shop in Fort, Mumbai and grew to over one thousand locations throughout India and Egypt. Today it is one of the leading bakery brands in Egypt and has a presence in Cairo, Giza, Mansura, Banha and Menofyia with over 80 exclusive shops in addition to a number of retailers selling Monginis branded products on non-exclusive basis. At Monginis, the art of making yummy decorative cake is developed by engaging expertise of leading chefs from all over the world.

Design brief was to help designing a new concept to escalate the customer experience and to expand the brand’s operations into a new neighborhood. The challenge was here to recreate the feeling of the previous of Monginis, for people to have a recall value. All layout elements rotate around the theme of celebration, which is the visual and social backbone of the brand. Monginis aas a brand in Egypt is know for its authentic offerings and for any occassion. The same had to be bought out in the store by elevating the experience.

For the brand the heightest selling offering are the Cakes and Pasteries it caters to more than half of the business hence the layout has been planned in accordance to the same. Different areas in the store are allocated to zones like the oriental sections that are typically offering egyptian sweets. the bakery area offers the freshly baked breads and biscuits. the brand wanted to be presented as not only for cakes and pasteries but all for the other offerings. the live bakery lets the customer see through the store where the food is being preapred giving a feeling of transparency of the brand. In keeping with the previous stores creative approach, we relooked at every aspect of the store, including the shopfront, new merchandising systems, improved customer navigation and conceptual zoning.

Egtpy as a culture is of celebration and the food offered compliments the same. The essence of the stores is their ability to provide personalised stories across all channels, feeding the minds of each and every customer no matter the age or demographic,’ says. Defined columns that blend in the environment, zone are catgorised as per function, lounge, live bakery zones are all designed to enhance customer experience, increase dwell time and make every journey more entertaining. People need spaces of social exchange and well-being, and Monginis believe that thier stores plays an important role as a meeting place in the area they are located.
