An Art Deco-Inspired Home for a Young Family

The client, a young family of three, sought our help to create an Art Deco inspired home that would accommodate their needs. The wife is an art collector, the husband a professional, and their daughter is a young toddler who loves the color pink. The design requirements were clear and concise, with a focus on bold furniture pieces, a unique and bold kitchen design, and an open and easy-to-navigate layout. The lighting had to be appropriate and functional, as well as safe for the toddler.

Bringing Family's Personality to the Space

The design concept was to create a warm and inviting Art Deco-inspired home that would be a reflection of the client's personality and style. The design elements incorporated geometric shapes, bright colors, metallic accents, and clean lines to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Textured surfaces like fur, velvet, and leather were used to add depth and character to the space.

Fusing Functionality and Fashion

We began the design process by creating a mood board to showcase the colors, patterns, and textures that would be used in the space. The furniture and lighting fixtures were carefully selected to match the Art Deco-style, with a focus on bold and unique designs. The flooring was chosen to be italian marble tile and the hardware was Art Deco-style, such as door handles and knobs. The kitchen was designed to be bold and unique, with a focus on functional storage and a functional workspace.

Illuminating the Home

The lighting design was a combination of task lighting, accent lighting, and ambient lighting, to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Art Deco-style pendant lights, table lamps, and wall sconces were used to add character to the space. Wall panels, moldings, and glass windows were used as decorative elements to add a touch of Art Deco style.

The layout of the space was designed to be open and easy to navigate, with wide doorways and clear paths. Safety features such as rounded edges and slip-resistant flooring were incorporated to create a child-friendly environment. Built-in cabinets and shelves with Art Deco-style hardware were used to store the art collection and other essentials.
